Rosita Oy
The journey of Rosita Oy began in 1985. A ketch called Rosita was acquired as the company’s first passenger ship, with which six cruises were conducted during the first year. In 1988 Rosita Oy purchased a second vessel, a schooner called Iris, and by 1992 the enterprise already had three ships. Public cruises were initiated the same year to the Turku Archipelago.
In 1996 Rosita Oy performed a significant cultural contribution by reconstructing Airisto’s Segelsällskapet Pavilion, which had been virtually destroyed, on Pikku-Pukki Island flanking Turku’s Ruissalo. The pavilion, which is at a picturesque location, functions currently as a restaurant on special order. Rosita Oy’s successful efforts as company was rewarded in 1999 with the “Oskar of the Year” tourism prize, given as recognition for innovative work on behalf of tourism promotion. |
